about

In 1982, R.E.M. released the Chronic Town: a five song ep that would launch one of the most important bands of the 20th Century. I bought it at Wax Trax records in Chicago and played it incessantly. R.E.M. was very instrumental in my coming of age. What I'm presenting here is a re-conception of that record. Viewed through the most boring and obvious metrics, my re-conception bears little resemblance to the original. However, when viewed through less obvious and more interesting metrics, my re-conception hopefully marshals some the verisimilitude (that is to say, truth) of the original. Long live Berry, Buck, Mills & Stipe!
